1-to-1 Chat

Buzzio 1-to-1 chat is private messaging between you and one other person. Messages are encrypted on your device before they leave. After the other person’s device receives a message, the server delivery copy is removed. Your readable chat history stays on your devices.

You can also make private voice and video calls, and use optional tools like Secure View, Vanish, disappearing timers, and view-once media.

Get started

  1. Sign in to Buzzio with your Buzzio ID and recovery phrase (on a new device).
  2. Add someone by Buzzio ID, optional @username, or invite / QR where the app offers it.
  3. Open the chat and send text, photos, video, voice, or files.
  4. Optionally open chat settings for privacy tools, receipts, and notifications.

Your identity on Buzzio is a 12-digit Buzzio ID (not a phone number requirement for the account itself). People reach you by ID, optional username, or the invite flows the app provides.

Send messages and media

In a private chat you can:

  • Type and send text
  • Send photos, video, voice, and files
  • Reply to a specific message
  • React with emoji
  • Forward text/media within normal limits (some media types may be blocked)
  • Delete for yourself or delete for everyone when the app offers it
  • Pin a message when both sides use shared pins (temporary shared pin, not your whole transcript in the cloud)

There is no first-class “edit message” today — send a correction or delete if you need to fix something.

Typing indicators and read / delivery receipts can be limited in settings (globally or per contact, depending on the control).

Privacy tools

Secure View

Both people agree to harden the chat against screenshots and screen recording while sensitive messages are on screen.

  • One person requests; the other accepts.
  • Pending requests expire in about 2 hours.
  • Capture blocking is strongest on Android; on iOS and web it is best-effort.

Vanish mode

Short timers that start after a message is seen. Options run from about 5 seconds up to 6 hours. Both sides use a request / agree flow. Each message gets its own countdown once it has been seen.

Disappearing messages

Chat-level timers: 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days. The countdown starts when you send, not when the other person reads. You can keep specific messages so they stay until you unkeep them.

Once-view and view-once media

  • Once-view mode — chat-level mode where messages are designed to leave shortly after they are seen (about 5 seconds), with stronger screenshot policy.
  • View-once media — that photo, video, or voice opens once, then is removed from the experience.

Calls

You can place encrypted voice and video calls from the private chat surface.

  • Calls are not recorded by Buzzio as a replayable server archive.
  • The call list you see in the app lives on your device and ages out of the UI after about 24 hours.

How delivery works (simple)

  1. You encrypt on your device and send.
  2. If the other person is offline, an encrypted copy may wait briefly for delivery.
  3. When their device takes the message, the server copy is removed.
  4. If a message is never collected, undelivered traffic is safety-purged after about 3 days.

“Delivered” means their device processed the message — not only that they opened and read it. On multi-device accounts, the first device that successfully receives the message consumes the server copy; each device keeps its own local history unless you restore an optional backup you control.

Block, report, and backup

  • Block and report are safety tools.
  • Optional encrypted backup (when you turn it on) uses a recovery key you control. The default product stance is that Buzzio is not your permanent private cloud inbox.

You can verify safety numbers / fingerprints in-app when you want out-of-band confirmation that you are talking to the right person.

Tips and limits

  • History lives on your devices, not as a Buzzio-readable archive of the conversation.
  • Use vanishing / once-view tools when you do not want messages to linger after they are read.
  • Undelivered messages are not kept forever (about 3 days safety window).
  • Optional cloud backup is under your recovery key when you choose it.

Related features

  • Whisper private chat — time-limited, QR-based anonymous chat without adding a permanent contact.
  • Groups — more than two people in one room.
  • Stories — short-lived status posts with an audience, not a private thread.
