About Buzzio

Buzzio is a private messaging app with two clear product lanes: a Privacy section (sealed) and a Feature mode (shared / lower privacy) — and a promise either way: we do not sell your data.

Website: https://buzzio.dev

Get started

  1. Skim the Privacy vs Features split below.
  2. Download Buzzio and create a Buzzio ID (no personal phone number required).
  3. Explore Chat, Groups, Communities, Channels, Whisper, and Calls at your own pace.

Privacy section (sealed)

On 1-to-1, Whisper private chat, E2E groups, and private calls:

  1. E2EE content — staff cannot open the message body.
  2. Signal-class envelopes — sealed sender, sealed controls, Whisper membership gating, opaque typing tokens, wake pushes without sender IDs — less who-talks-to-whom leakage than typical “E2EE” messengers.
  3. No durable private chat graph after delivery — scoped product goal (not absolute zero metadata or Tor).
  4. Local history under your keys — readable private history on your devices, not a cloud inbox we can open.

That is already more privacy than WhatsApp-style “E2EE but the platform still sees a lot of metadata,” for the surfaces we seal.

Feature mode (shared — lower privacy)

Open-history groups, Communities, and Broadcast store more on purpose so late joiners, roles, discovery, and one-to-many feeds can work. Buzzio can operate those rooms. They are not sealed like 1-to-1 or E2E groups. Stories and Whisper Questions also sit in this shared lane.

The Buzzio promise

  1. On the Privacy section, we aim to be a blind relay — not a permanent archive.
For 1-to-1, Whisper private chat, E2E groups, and private calls, messages encrypt on your device. Servers move sealed / encrypted envelopes for delivery, then remove them. Readable history for those chats lives on your phones.

  2. "Zero metadata" means something specific.
For private 1-to-1 chat and Whisper private chat, Buzzio keeps zero durable conversation metadata on our servers after delivery (1-to-1) or session expiry (Whisper) — no lasting dossier of who talked to whom, and never a searchable archive of what was said. Preferred 1-to-1 delivery uses sealed-sender style envelopes. It does not mean Buzzio stores nothing at all — accounts, safety tools, push delivery, short-lived undelivered queues, and Feature mode still need operational data. We do not claim Tor-grade network anonymity on today’s stack.

  3. Feature mode says so honestly.
Open-history groups, Communities, Broadcast, Stories, Whisper Questions, optional contact sync, and optional encrypted backup store more so those products work.

  4. We do not sell your data. Never.
Not messages. Not metadata. Not Buzzio IDs. Not community posts. Not Whisper content. Not backups.

Identity without a phone number

Your public address is a random 12-digit Buzzio ID. Keys come from a 12-word recovery phrase generated on your device. Optional @username maps to the same account. Sign-in on a new phone needs ID + phrase.

Who we are

Buzzio is built by the Buzzio Team. We focus on private messaging that stays honest about tradeoffs — Privacy section where secrecy matters, Feature mode where rooms and feeds need shared history. Long-term, we aim to deepen privacy further as we move toward infrastructure we fully control.

Tips and limits

  • Age: 13+ (optional wallet features 18+).
  • Losing your recovery phrase without a backup you can unlock means those private keys cannot be rebuilt by us.
