Download and Get Started
Buzzio is a private messaging app for Android and iOS. Start at https://buzzio.dev, install the app, create your identity, save your recovery phrase, and send your first chat — without needing a personal phone number or email as your account.
Buzzio is for people 13+. Optional wallet features, if you use them, may require 18+.
Get started
- Open https://buzzio.dev and download Buzzio for your phone.
- Install the app and allow notifications if you want message and call alerts.
- Choose create a new account (or restore an existing one).
- Write down your 12-word recovery phrase and Buzzio ID.
- Confirm you saved the phrase — Buzzio cannot reset it for you.
- Set your account name (first name required; last name optional).
- Land on the main dashboard and open Chat to start.
Create a new account
On first launch:
- Generate a new identity on your device.
- View the 12-word recovery phrase and your dashed 12-digit Buzzio ID.
- Store both somewhere safe offline (paper, password manager, or another private method you trust).
- Finish the confirmation step in the app.
- Enter your display name.
- Continue to the home tabs.
Your keys are created on the device. Buzzio does not receive the recovery phrase.
Restore on a new phone
- Install Buzzio.
- Choose sign-in / restore.
- Enter your Buzzio ID.
- Enter your 12-word recovery phrase.
- Optional: unlock an encrypted backup with your recovery key if you made one earlier.
Sign-in restores identity and keys. Full private chat history appears only if you restore a backup you can unlock — not by login alone.
What you see on the home screen
After setup, Buzzio’s main areas typically include:
- Chat — 1-to-1 conversations
- Story — 24-hour status posts
- Group — small/mid group chats
- Community — larger shared spaces
- Channels — broadcast feeds
- Whisper — private QR chat and Whisper Questions
- Call — local call history and return paths
You do not need to use every tab on day one. Start with Chat, then explore.
Your first private chat
- Add someone by Buzzio ID or @username (when their privacy settings allow it).
- Open the new 1-to-1 chat.
- Send a message — it encrypts on your device before it leaves the phone.
- Optional: place a voice or video call from that chat.
If you want anonymous time-limited messaging instead, open Whisper → Private chat and share a QR / link.
Before you invite friends
- Save the 12-word phrase somewhere you will still have next year.
- Set or skip @username.
- Open Privacy to decide who can see your Buzzio ID, photo, bio, and last seen.
- Decide whether to turn on optional contact sync.
- Decide whether you want optional encrypted backup for future phone upgrades.
Tips and limits
- No personal phone number or email is required to create the account.
- New device = Buzzio ID + 12-word phrase every time.
- Losing the phrase without a backup you can unlock means private keys and that local history are gone for good.
- Download from the official site: https://buzzio.dev.
- Age rule: 13+ for the app.
