This FAQ answers common questions about Buzzio. Short and clear first — open a how-to or docs link when you need full steps.
Buzzio is a private messaging app for Android. You chat with a Buzzio ID — not your phone number. There is no SMS OTP and no address-book requirement to create an account.
You can use sealed private chats, Whisper sessions, groups, communities, broadcasts, Stories, encrypted calls, and optional extras like backup and Premium.
Anyone who wants messaging without tying their identity to a SIM number. It’s built for people who care about sealed chats, honest tradeoffs on shared rooms, and keeping recovery under their own control.
Buzzio is available on Android now. iOS is on the way. There is no full web chat client for sealed private messaging.
Optional Buzzio Premium and separate add-ons (such as encrypted backup storage, Private Vault, Rocket Drop fuel, and Whisper Questions Link Packs). We do not sell your messages or personal data.
No. Not messages, not metadata, not Buzzio IDs, not community posts, not Whisper content, not backups. Never.
No. Your account uses a random 12-digit Buzzio ID and a 12-word recovery phrase created on your device. An optional @username is separate.
No. Buzzio never receives your phrase or private messaging keys. Without the phrase (and without an unlockable encrypted backup for history), we cannot rebuild those keys. Keep the phrase offline somewhere safe.
Install Buzzio, choose restore / sign in, and enter your Buzzio ID plus the 12-word phrase. That restores identity and keys.
Private chat history only returns if you unlock an encrypted backup with your backup recovery key.
The 12-word phrase restores your account identity and messaging keys.
The backup recovery key unlocks an encrypted backup of chat history you chose to save. You may need both when moving phones with history.
Use in-app account deletion when available, or email a Privacy Request — Delete Account. See Contact and support for details.
Buzzio is 13+. Optional wallet features are 18+.
People you add by Buzzio ID or username, invite links, QR / Whisper sessions, and members of rooms you share — depending on the surface and your privacy settings.
An optional @username makes you easier to find. It is not your phone number. You can change or clear it later in settings.
Check, in order: phone system settings for Buzzio; in-app Notifications toggles and preview mode; per-chat Mute; and community / channel level (Every message, Only tag, or Muted).
Stories often update as silent rings, not banners.
Optional and off by default. When enabled, Buzzio can keep a map of saved contacts so features like Stories audiences work better across devices. You can turn it off later.
On sealed surfaces — 1-to-1, Whisper private chat, E2E groups, and private calls — Buzzio is designed so we cannot read message or call contents as plaintext. Readable private history lives on your devices.
No single rule covers every tab. Shared products store more so they can work: open-history groups, Communities, Broadcast, Whisper Questions answers (so you can read them), Stories while live, optional contact sync, and optional encrypted cloud backup.
Those are honest feature tradeoffs — and that data is still not sold.
1-to-1 chat and Whisper private chat keep zero durable conversation metadata on our servers. After delivery (1-to-1) or session expiry (Whisper), we do not retain a lasting server record of who talked to whom for that chat, and we never keep a searchable archive of what was said.
Chat history stays on your devices. It does not mean Buzzio stores zero operational data anywhere — accounts, safety tools, undelivered queues, and shared features still need limited data.
Sealed chats keep zero durable conversation metadata on our servers after delivery or expiry.
Shared Feature mode stores plaintext so feeds, roles, and backscroll work — and we say so up front.
Group — one member chat room (choose E2E sealed or open-history).
Community — many channels, roles, and events in a shared space.
Broadcast — admin posts to many followers; followers don’t reply in-feed.
A shared group where backscroll is stored in plaintext on our servers so late joiners and product features can work. It is not E2EE. Use sealed E2E groups when you need encryption instead.

Whisper private chat — timed QR / link E2EE room that expires, with zero durable chat metadata after expiry.
Whisper Questions — anonymous ask links answered in a browser; you read replies in the app.
Yes for private 1-to-1 voice and video. Same encryption model as your sealed messages. We don’t keep a recording. You can also share your screen on a 1-to-1 call.
Use Privacy → Block contacts, and Report from the chat or space. Communities also have bans and audit tools for admins.
Login restores identity, not a default cloud mirror of sealed chats. Restore an encrypted backup if you made one.
Check the live board at status.buzzio.dev. If everything looks green, try device checks first — single-phone issues are usually not site-wide outages.
