Encrypted Calls

Buzzio private calls let you place voice and video calls with someone in 1-to-1 chat. You can also share your screen. Buzzio does not keep a recording you can play back later.

Use calls when you want a live conversation with the same private-chat trust model.

Get started

Open a 1-to-1 chat with the person you want to call.
Tap the voice or video call control in that chat.
Allow microphone (and camera, for video) when your phone asks.
Or open the Call tab to see recent local call history and return to people you have called.

During a call you can mute, use speaker, turn the camera on or off, flip camera, share your screen, and end the call.

On a live 1-to-1 call, tap screen share.
Allow the system capture prompt.
Both cameras pause so only the screen is shown. One share at a time.

Android: press Home to show another app — sharing continues from the call notification.

iOS: choose Buzzio in the system Start Broadcast picker.

Stop sharing from the in-call control when you are done.

Call tab

The Call tab shows recent calls stored on your device. Older records leave that list after about 24 hours. It is not a Buzzio cloud call archive.

Tips and limits

Calls are part of private 1-to-1 chat — start from a chat, or return through the Call tab.
Keep a stable network. Try Wi-Fi if cellular is weak, or the other way around.
If someone blocks you, you generally cannot keep calling them through that private relationship.
Media prefers a direct device-to-device path. If a relay is needed, it forwards encrypted packets only — not a recording.
Group chat uses voice rooms, not this 1-to-1 ring-and-answer call.

Troubleshooting

The call will not connect

Allow microphone (and camera for video) for Buzzio in phone settings.
Confirm both people are on a network (Wi-Fi or cellular).
Start the call from a 1-to-1 chat, not a group, community, or Whisper session.
Check that neither of you blocked the other.
Update Buzzio, then try again.
If the status board at status.buzzio.dev shows an incident, wait it out.

The call connects, then drops

Move closer to Wi-Fi, or switch Wi-Fi ↔ cellular.
Close other apps that hog the network or microphone.
On Android, allow Buzzio to run in the background / ignore battery optimization so the call can stay alive when you leave the screen.

Accept the system permission the first time you share.
On iOS, pick Buzzio in Start Broadcast — sharing will not start if you pick another app.
Only one person can share at a time. Stop the current share, then try again.
Screen share is for 1-to-1 calls, not group voice rooms.

I cannot hear them / they cannot hear me

Unmute both sides.
Check phone volume and that another Bluetooth device is not capturing audio.
Toggle speaker, then try again.

1-to-1 chat — the same private surface where message history and call buttons live.
Group voice rooms — join-style encrypted audio in a group, without a 1-to-1 ring.
Notifications — turn call alerts on or off, and set a call ringtone.
