12-word seed phrase
Buzzio messaging keys come from a 12-word recovery seed generated on your phone. Think of it as the master key to your Buzzio identity — not a password Buzzio can look up.
What the seed does
- Derives your messaging keys on-device
- Restores the same Buzzio identity on a new phone
- Can also derive an optional Bitcoin wallet path when you enable that feature
Buzzio never receives the seed. Staff cannot reset it.
Seed vs backup recovery key
| Key | Restores |
|---|---|
| 12-word seed | Identity and messaging keys |
| Backup recovery key | Encrypted chat-history backup you chose to save |
A new phone with full history usually needs both.
How to keep it safe
- Write it down offline (paper or a password manager you trust).
- Never paste it into email, chat, or support tickets.
- Confirm you saved it before finishing setup.
If you lose seed + devices + unlockable backup, those keys are gone permanently.
