Introduction
Hear less, read more — without a speech upload.
Voice-to-text turns voice notes into text on this device. Choose automatic transcripts for incoming audio, tap when you want one, or keep transcripts off. The speech model runs locally; Buzzio does not keep a cloud archive of those transcripts.
Audio for transcription stays on your phone. Transcripts are not uploaded as a Buzzio speech archive.
Why Buzzio is best for voice-to-text
On-device model
Transcription runs locally with an on-device speech model — not a always-on Buzzio listening cloud.
Automatic or manual
Auto-transcribe incoming voice notes, tap when you need one, or never show transcripts.
Language choice
Pick a language or auto-detect. Add language options from Voice-to-text settings.
Premium, labeled
Voice-to-text is a Premium perk — restore purchases if the settings entry is missing.
Works after decrypt
Sealed voice notes decrypt on device first; transcription never needs a server-readable copy.
No cloud transcript vault
Results stay with the chat UX on this phone — not a durable Buzzio transcript database.

How it works
How to use
Confirm Premium
Voice-to-text is a Premium perk. Restore purchases if you already subscribed.
Open Voice-to-text settings
Choose how incoming voice notes should show transcripts: automatic, manual, or never.
Pick a language
Set a language code or auto-detect, and add packs if the app asks.
Open a voice note
With automatic mode, transcripts appear as the model finishes. Manual mode waits for your tap.
Receive modes
Automatic
- Incoming voice notes transcribe on device
- Handy when you read more than you listen
- Uses battery / CPU while the model runs
Manual or never
- Manual: tap when you want a transcript
- Never: hide transcripts entirely
- Best when audio is enough most of the time
On-device model
Buzzio runs a local speech model on supported phones. The first setup may download model assets; after that, transcription does not upload the voice note to Buzzio for speech-to-text. If a transcript is empty or missing, check that audio downloaded, the model is installed, and Premium is active.
Transcripts stay on the device — they are not a cloud archive.
Boundaries
Not Whisper private chat
Voice-to-text
- Premium inbox tool
- Transcripts of voice notes
- On-device speech model
- Works in normal chats you use
Whisper private chat
- Accountless temporary E2E sessions
- QR / invite string rooms
- Separate product surface
- Not the same as speech-to-text
The on-device model may use Whisper-family tech; that is not the same feature as Buzzio Whisper private chat.
What voice-to-text does not mean
It is not live call captioning. It is not perfect in every accent or noisy room. Unsupported platforms or missing model assets will fail honestly. And it does not turn voice notes into a searchable cloud library Buzzio staff can open.
Tips
- Use manual mode if automatic transcripts feel heavy on battery
- Confirm the voice note finished downloading before retrying
- Restore Premium if the settings screen is missing
- Pair with auto-translate when the transcript is in another language
