Introduction
A shareable handle — without SIM identity.
Buzzio accounts use a 12-digit Buzzio ID and an on-device recovery phrase — not a phone number. Optional @username is a separate global handle that maps to your Buzzio ID so people can find or share you. Profile QR and share links (including me.buzzio.dev) make that easy in person or online.
We do not require your phone number to message. Username is optional — and field-level privacy controls what others can see.
Why Buzzio is best for @username & QR
No phone number
Account identity is Buzzio ID + phrase. @username is an optional handle — not a SIM login.
Global @handle
Claim a username that maps to your Buzzio ID so people can search and share you by name.
Profile QR
Share a profile QR in person — scan to connect without reading digits aloud.
Share links
Profile / username share links help people open your profile from the web or a message.
Field-level privacy
Control who can see username, photo, description, Buzzio ID, and related profile fields.
Not Whisper QR
Profile QR is for your account identity. Whisper private chat uses a different QR for temporary E2E sessions.

How it works
How to use
Open profile settings
Go to your profile / account screens where username and share tools live.
Claim @username
Pick an available global handle. It maps to your Buzzio ID — it does not replace your recovery phrase.
Share QR or link
Show your profile QR or send a share link so someone can open your profile.
Tune privacy
Set who can see username, photo, description, and related fields.
@username
Username is optional and separate from your Buzzio ID. People can search or mention you by handle when privacy settings allow. Stories “Everyone” visibility can also involve username-based discovery rings — still under your profile privacy choices.
Boundaries
Privacy controls
Field-level settings cover who can see Buzzio ID, username, photo, description, last seen, and who may add you to groups. Claiming a username makes you more findable when those settings allow it — tighten them if you want a quieter profile.
Handle for sharing. Phrase for recovery. Never confuse the two.
What @username does not mean
It is not a phone number login. It is not your recovery phrase. It is not Whisper private chat. Popular handles may already be taken. And a public-facing username is more discoverable by design — use privacy fields if that is not what you want.
Tips
- Claim a handle you are willing to say out loud
- Share QR in person; share links in bios and DMs
- Review username / photo privacy after you claim a handle
- Keep the 12-word phrase offline — username cannot restore an account
