Introduction
Harden capture on this device — without asking a peer.
Screen security is your phone’s Privacy setting for blocking screenshots of chat lists, 1:1 chats, and E2E groups on this device. It is not a negotiation with the other person. Turn it on once; Buzzio applies capture hardening while you view those surfaces.
We do not sell your screens. This toggle hardens what leaves via OS capture on your phone — it cannot stop another camera pointed at the glass.
Why Buzzio is best for screen security
One Privacy toggle
Profile → Privacy → Screen security. No peer accept flow for this device-local control.
Chat surfaces covered
Hardens chat lists (including archive / search), sealed 1:1, and E2E groups on this phone.
Android FLAG_SECURE
On Android, blocks screenshots, recording, and app-switcher thumbnails for protected surfaces.
iOS best-effort
iOS uses detection and blur where the platform allows — Apple does not offer a full FLAG_SECURE equivalent.
Honest scope
Per-device. Group members each use their own Screen security — there is no room-level override.
Distinct from once-view
Once-view hardens capture while temporary messages are on screen. Screen security is your always-on device Privacy toggle for chat surfaces.
What you get
- Privacy toggle
- This device only
- Chat lists
- 1:1 chats
- E2E groups
- Android FLAG_SECURE
- iOS best-effort
- No peer approve
How it works
How to enable
Open Privacy
Go to Profile → Privacy on the Buzzio app.
Turn on Screen security
Enable Screen security — subtitle: block screenshots of chat lists, 1:1 chats, and E2E groups on this device.
Browse as usual
While on, protected chat surfaces harden capture on this phone. No peer accept required.
What it covers
When enabled, Screen security targets chat lists (dashboard, archive, search), sealed 1:1 chats, and E2E groups on this device. Buzzio also uses related capture holders transiently for surfaces like wallet, view-once viewers, and Whisper viewport bubbles — those are situational, not the Privacy toggle itself.
Android and iOS
Android
- FLAG_SECURE on protected surfaces
- Blocks screenshots & recording
- Blocks app-switcher thumbnails
iOS
- Detection / blur best-effort
- Cannot fully block OS capture
- Still reduces casual leaks
Boundaries
Screen security vs Once-view & Whisper
Screen security
- Device Privacy toggle
- Chat lists, 1:1, E2E groups
- Applies on this phone only
- You turn it on in Privacy settings
Once-view & Whisper
- No standalone Secure View feature
- Once-view includes on-screen capture hardening
- Whisper private chat has default screenshot protection
- Built into those modes — not a separate toggle
Also different from per-contact Block Screenshots and view-once media viewers.
What Screen security does not mean
It is not absolute anti-camera protection. It does not force the other person’s phone to harden capture. iOS cannot fully block OS-level screenshots the way Android FLAG_SECURE can. For temporary chats, use once-view (built-in hardening) or Whisper (default session protection) — there is no separate Secure View feature. And assume another camera can still exist.
Tips
- Turn Screen security on if you often open chats in public
- Ask peers to enable it too — it only covers their device if they do
- Use once-view when you want after-seen messages with built-in capture hardening
- Pair with App lock so an unlocked phone still needs Buzzio unlock
