Introduction
Keep forever — without turning Buzzio into a readable cloud inbox.
Saved Messages is your personal encrypted archive inside Buzzio. Bookmark a message from another chat, or compose straight into the thread. It looks like a chat, but it is not a conversation with someone else — it is a sealed keep-forever lane for things you want to hold onto.
We store ciphertext you unlock. Staff cannot open Saved Messages without your keys. We do not sell your archive.
Why Buzzio is best for saved messages
Encrypted before sync
Each saved item is encrypted on your device. The server holds blobs — not a staff-readable scrapbook.
Keys from your account
A Saved Messages root key is derived from your account material. Restore with your 12-word phrase, then pull the archive.
Keep forever by design
No auto-delete timer on saved items. You choose what stays — and what you remove.
Phone and linked web
Use Saved Messages on the app and on linked web.buzzio.dev after you connect a device.
Not Note to myself
Scratch-pad notes stay device-first. Saved Messages is the durable, Premium keep-forever archive.
Honest gating
Writing new saves is a Buzzio Premium surface. After Premium ends you can still read and delete — not add.
What you get
A chat-shaped personal archive with encrypted sync, media space, and restore through your recovery phrase — separate from Note to myself, Private Vault, and chat backup.
- Keep-forever thread
- Save from other chats
- Compose into archive
- On-device encryption
- Unlimited text
- ~200 MB media pool
- Phone + linked web
- Phrase-based restore
- Read after Premium ends
How it works
How to save a message
Open Saved Messages
Find it from Settings → Saved Messages, or open the Saved Messages thread in your chat list.
Or save from another chat
Use overflow → Save to Saved Messages on an eligible message to bookmark a copy into your archive.
Encrypt and sync
Buzzio encrypts on device, caches locally, and syncs ciphertext so your other signed-in surfaces can pull it.
Keep or clear
Items stay until you delete them. Free media space by removing saved media you no longer need.
Encryption model
Saved Messages uses a dedicated envelope path — not the same crypto lane as Note to myself. Each item gets a random data key, wrapped by a Saved Messages root key derived from your account material. That root key is never uploaded in the clear. The cloud only sees ciphertext.
Your archive unlocks with your account keys — not with a Buzzio staff override.
Restore path
Install Buzzio, restore with your Buzzio ID and 12-word phrase, then pull Saved Messages from the cloud. The root key is re-derived from account material — you do not need a separate backup recovery key just for this archive.
Losing the phrase without another unlocked device means that archive stays sealed forever. That is by design.
Boundaries
Saved Messages vs Note to myself
Saved Messages
- Keep-forever cloud archive
- Buzzio Premium for new saves
- Bookmark copies from other chats
- ~200 MB media pool
Note to myself
- Device-first scratch pad
- Free for local use
- Reminders, drafts, quick files
- Not a durable keep-forever vault
What you can’t save
Not every message is eligible. Buzzio blocks saves that would break privacy or product boundaries.
- Whisper private chat messages
- Messages already inside Saved Messages
- Temporary groups
- View-once / once-view messages
- Messages with restrict-sharing protection
- Polls, calls, and control / notification types
- Uploads that are still in flight
What Saved Messages does not mean
Saved Messages is not Private Vault, not encrypted chat backup, and not a place to store Whisper sessions. Media has a finite pool. Without your recovery phrase, nobody — including Buzzio — can decrypt the archive. And Premium is required to keep adding new saves.
Tips
- Write down your 12-word phrase offline before you rely on restore
- Delete old saved media when the 200 MB pool fills up
- Use Note to myself for quick drafts; use Saved Messages for keep-forever
- Do not expect Whisper or view-once items to enter the archive
