Introduction
After seen — then leave the chat experience.
Once-view is a chat mode for temporary messages. Either person can swipe up to turn it on or off — no mutual Vanish-style approve. New messages while the mode is on clear after they are seen, on a short timer, with stronger capture hardening while that content is on screen.
We do not sell your messages. Once-view shrinks what stays after open — it does not defeat every camera pointed at a screen.
Why Buzzio is best for once-view
After-seen clear
Messages leave after they are opened — not after a day-long send-time countdown alone.
Swipe to toggle
Swipe up at the bottom of the chat to turn once-view on or off unilaterally.
Configurable window
Default about 5 seconds; presets from 5s to 5 minutes, plus custom in that range.
Screen protection
Stronger screenshot / screen-record hardening while once-view content is on screen.
Redacted previews
Chat list and notifications redact the body so once-view content is not leaked in previews.
Forward blocked
Once-view and view-once content are blocked from forwarding out of the chat.
What you get
- Swipe up toggle
- After-seen clear
- ~5s default
- Up to 5 minutes
- Change timer
- Screenshot hardening
- Redacted previews
- No forward
- View once media
How it works
How to enable
Open a supported chat
Once-view is offered in 1:1, and in E2E groups / Whisper where the product surfaces it.
Swipe up
Swipe up at the bottom of the chat to turn once-view messages on. Swipe again to turn off.
Send while mode is on
Only new messages sent while once-view is on get the after-seen behavior. They keep it even if you later turn the mode off.
Change the timer
Use Change on the in-chat notice to pick 5s, 10s, 30s, 1m, 2m, 5m — or a custom value from 1 second to 5 minutes.
After-seen timer
The clock starts when the message is seen, then clears after the window you chose. Default is about 5 seconds. Maximum is 5 minutes. That is a different product job from disappearing messages, which countdown from send time over hours or days.
Built-in screenshot protection
In the current Buzzio app there is no separate “Secure View” feature. Screenshot and screen-record hardening ship with once-view while that content is on screen. Whisper private chat also applies default screenshot protection in the session — you do not turn on a standalone Secure View toggle for either path.
Older messages in the same chat that are not once-view can still be captured. And no app can stop someone from photographing the screen with another device.
Hardening reduces casual capture — it is not a physical impossibility guarantee.
View once media
Related but separate: View once media is a per-item flag on a photo, video, or voice note. It opens once in a full-screen viewer labeled View once, then is removed. That is not the same control as chat-level once-view mode — you can think of view-once as single-open media, and once-view as a temporary chat mode for new messages.
Boundaries
Once-view vs Disappearing
Once-view
- Clears after seen
- Seconds to 5 minutes
- Swipe up toggle
- Stronger on-screen hardening
Disappearing messages
- Countdown from send
- 24h / 7d / 90d in 1:1
- Contact-info timer
- Keep / unkeep available
Also not Vanish / Secure Mode, which uses a short mutual after-seen path with its own rules.
What once-view does not mean
It does not rewrite older messages already in the thread. It does not block every capture method. It is not the same as disappearing timers or view-once media alone. And peer permission is not required — either side can toggle — so treat sensitive sends with that in mind.
Tips
- Swipe up before you send if the whole stretch should be once-view
- Shorten the timer for more sensitive exchanges
- Use View once on media when only one open matters
- Use Disappearing messages for day/week/month residue shrink
- Assume another camera can still exist — privacy is layered
